fascinating surreal deck for intuitive readers

Nicoletta Ceccoli is an artist from San Marino often identified with the Lowbrow or Pop Surrealist movment. Her detailed paintings, which often feature doll-like girl-child figures, have an eerie, dreamlike quality. She is sometimes compared to Mark Ryden, an apt comparison, but her work is less in-your-face weird and I find it more appealing. Ms. Ceccoli is also an accomplished illustrator of children's books.
The Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot collects some of her artwork and puts them on 78 Tarot cards. The developers have tried to find images that line up with traditional meanings, and have been mostly successful. The paintings have to be cropped and sometimes, the objects repositioned to fit into the rectangle of each Tarot card. Sometimes we are looking at a detail from a larger canvas.
But what a delightful, weird, fascinating, evocative collection of images! Her world is populated by female doll-like and other symbols of childhood: toys, candy, cakes, cute anthroporophic animals, winged fairies. She likes murky grays but sometimes gives us a splash of baby-pink or baby-blue. An air of melancholy pervades her dreamscapes.
A big cloth bunny menaces a pair of dolls, who cower behind a stack of blocks for safety. A warrior princess astride a toy giraffe-thing slays a monster with a lance. A blonde long-haired girl hugs a crimson salamander to her chest. A dark-haired girl lifts her skirt, and out runs a bull. Another girl balances on a tightrope from one skyscraper to another. A tutu'd ballerina sits in a chair, posing with a swan in her lap. A girl runs fast through a forest of lollipops, chased by a toy insect.
Most of the pictures are not close to their Rider-Waite-Smith counterparts, and is not recommended for those who demand a close RWS derivative. But for those who favor and intutive reading style and are willing to step into Nicoletta Ceccoli's wild, weird, wonderful world, it might be just your thing.

Emotional Truth-Telling Cards that are Breathtakingly Beautiful.

I had these on preorder for so long that I built up this imagine in my mind of these perfectly detailed cards and I was not disappointed. While I agree that these cards are not for the novice reader I firmly believe that if you are drawn to them then it is for a reason and you should add it to your collection.
My Reading Results & Impressions:
I find that they are filled with twisting emotions that come through every reading regardless of you being prepared for them or not. I have yet to have a reading that did not take us on one emotional extreme to the next. These cards will leave you drained and exhausted but in doing so it will make you see the things you have hidden or masked. They are a rare set of truth tellers and I am honored to have them in my collection,
I do not use them for daily readings because of the emotions involved but they are perfect for the person who is soul seeking or trying to remove the cloud from faded memories. They are brutal in their honesty so I would not use on a delicate reading but for one who is ready for the "in your face" type of truth that they will show.

Outstanding!

:) Ah, I do not even know what to say, honestly. I got this deck about a week ago, and I have become addicted to it. I am crazy about Tarot cards, indeed. For me, Tarot is a Love that will never end, and lately, I have bumped into two decks that I have felt goosebumps about, one of them is the Ceccoli Deck (the other one is the Bruegel Tarot). When I saw them, I simply felt they were Must Have Decks for me. The Bruegel Deck came first, and it blew me away, then...
:) A week later, this simply awesome Ceccoli Deck arrived. I do not want to persuade anyone, and I do not know who this Artist is, but I have the feeling her Art was not originally planned for Tarot cards. Yet they are unbelievable!
If you want to see the possible outcome of things, present, past or future events, this deck is brilliant in 'investigations', but simply awesome in exploring the psychological background of relationships, motivations, feelings, fears, characters, I have no words for it, indeed.
I have not and will not read the LWB, because these cards work for intuitive readings. I have tried them in a special way, as well, to describe characters - with one card for each person -, and so far, for me, this is the deck that has given the clearest descriptions. These cards speak for themselves. You just have to follow your intuition when you look at the cards.
Yes, the imagery is weird, sometimes even scary - but these images are in us, and I am convinced that the resonances of these cards also work in the subconscious so as to help us let our fears and dark thoughts go - this Artist knows something about the human psyche, indeed! And the artwork is simply beautiful!
:) So thank you, Nicoletta and Lo Scarabeo, you have made me very happy, and I do hope others will also explore the wonders of this deck, as well as Tarot cards in general. Thank you so much!
