A must have for freelance artists!

This book is close to a 'must have' for freelancers. It delivers the message that you can't price your services too low or you help to bring down pay rates for everyone. It doesn't exactly solve the problem of freelancers not based in big cities that can't find clients to pay the rates NYC ad agencies will pay.

It has a lot of very useful information for all kinds artists, and it can inspire considering art fields you aren't yet involved in.

everything you need

It's a great book for graphic artists and illustrators. Everything you really need to know about how to go about your practice, including all the pricing, legal side, and how to deal with problems. The only downside is it's quite dry. I'm an artist and quite easily distracted so it takes me a while to go through it. Also, some of the wordings could be better because sometimes if you're not business oriented it could take you a while to understand. but overall i'd really recommend it

Unrealistic in My world but Worth the Pourchase

I'm giving this book a five because content wise it's everything I wanted to know and more. One of the more difficult tasks in the design world is pricing your services accordingly. What this book offers is a starting point, whether your market demands lower prices or your lucky enough to be in a market and have clientele that is willing to pay the published recommended prices, either way you have a place to start. I don't have any clients willing to pay $2k+ for a logo, which is a shame but now I know understand my place in the market. Great book for every designer!

About the Author
Richard H. Cox received his PhD in Sport Psychology and Motor Learning from the University of Oregon in 1973 and his Master's and undergraduate degrees from Brigham Young University in 1967 and 1968. Widely published in the areas of sport psychology, exercise psychology, and motor learning, Dr. Cox was a faculty member at Kansas State University for 12 years, Ball State University for 4 years, and is now in his 15th year at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he has served as chair of the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences and chair of the Department of Education, School and Counseling Psychology and Director of the Sport Psychology program in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Cox is a Fellow in the Research Consortium of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and a Certified Consultant in the Association for the Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology.

DO NOT BUY!

DO NOT BUY This book. It is terribly written. There were numerous typos, and some of the definitions were way off. This prompted me to look up some definitions on Wikipedia, and low and behold, a vast majority of the definitions were copied word for word from Wikipedia. This book is a fraud.

Educational book worth the read

This Sport Psych book was great. I minored in Sport and Exercise Psychology in undergraduate school and this book had a lot of useful information in it. My professor was great at teaching but the book was a good supplement. The diagrams and tables are easy to understand in this book and help piece the information together. This book covers a lot of different areas and I found them very useful.

I do not liket the first few chapters, but the things I learned in the later chapters come up in my life very regularly. I find myself constantly recommending this book, and consequently, I've purchased an extra two books in order to loan them out. Sports psychology is a highly relevant field to anyone seeking to achieve anything, and the author does a fine job conveying most of the information in the text.

About the Author
Daniel Levi�is a professor in the Psychology and Child Development Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California. He has an MA and a PhD in environmental psychology from the University of Arizona. He teaches classes in teamwork and in environmental and organizational psychology. His teamwork class was designed primarily for engineering and business students at Cal Poly. He has conducted research and worked as a consultant with factory and engineering teams for companies such as Nortel Networks, TRW, Hewlett-Packard, and Philips Electronics. In addition, he has worked on international team research projects in Europe and Asia.

Dr. Levi’s research and consulting with factory teams primarily has focused on the use of teams to support technological change and the adoption of just-in-time and quality programs. This work examined a variety of team issues, including job redesign, training, compensation, supervision, and change management approaches. His work with professional teams primarily has been done with engineering design teams. These projects examined the use of concurrent engineering, self-management, and the globalization of teams. The topics of this work included the impact of information technology on teams, facilitation and training needs for professional teams, and the impacts of organizational culture and leadership.

Early work on the present book was sponsored by an engineering education grant from NASA. This project focused on the development of teamwork skills in engineering students working on multidisciplinary projects. This project led to the development of cases and activities for learning teamwork skills and research on teamwork training and evaluating and rewarding student teams. Recent research on student teams examines gender and cross-cultural issues, social support within teams, and bullying and hijacking in student teams.

It covers a breadth of various topics in Group Dynamics. It doesn't go into too much depth though but it suffices in getting the reader's feet wet on the subject.

Rivas stands out as a fresh, original voice with a style that is a unique blend of in-your-face honesty and deep mystery never fully revealed. Oh, and humor. She weaves a tale that is densely packed with color, drama, intrigue and emotion, yet the characters take every crazy thing in stride and carry on. The story romps along, told through the lens of a sharp cinematographer's eye. You’re in it, hit by the heat of the setting and the speed at which things take new turns.
When you finish it, you just want to have a drink with the characters and get ready to read another Mojo story from the next destination. There is nothing ordinary about this book. Read it, and join me in demanding more like it! Rise up! Mo' Mojo!

Great beach book, bouncy read. Interesting characters, plot easy to follow. Great locale, fun that it was based in the 80s. Liked the sex scenes! Satisfying without being too smarmy. Wish Mojo would make up her mind between Mike and The Kid... maybe in the next book?
