This dystopian world without men makes you want to save Mother Earth before it's too late

This book was like no other that I have read. Carolyn O'Neal's vision of a post-Collapse world without men satisfies the lover of dark and dystopian novels, yet it's practical too: of course there would be female plumbers and roads in need of repair because of all the jobs that today, mostly men perform. My favorite part about this book was the thought exercise of imagining a world with just one sex. But this book isn't anti-men--to the contrary, it's respectful of life. The only thing that was somewhat depressing in reading this was realizing how many of the "sci-fi twists" in this book are actually real, and how close we're coming to a major and irreversible environmental disaster. Kingsley is an imaginative jump off that deep end--on finishing, you'll be glad that a world without men, and most animals, is still fictional. And you'll be wanting to know more about what happens next!!

Meticulous yet concise, an amazing guide book

Caroline Williams has set the standard for all future books dealing with Cairo's Islamic heritage. Each chapter covers a specific area in medieval Cairo and starts with a list of the structures to be discussed. The buildings are ranked according to quality - a feature that tourists with limited time will find invaluable. The book reads easily and in addition to describing the architectural features of the mosques, palaces and madrasas goes on to give a brief history of each monument's builder. Detailed and accurate maps are given at the end of the book. An introductory chapter describing the features of Islamic architecture in general is included. However, if you're looking for a book of photographs this is not it.

Given the often lightweight nature of 'guidebooks', Carolone Williams' guide is a real breath of fresh air. It is not an academic tome but instead is written in a way that informs and instructs newcomers about Cairo's wonderful heritage of Islamic Architecture. The maps are useful, though occasionally confusing, and the index takes a while to get to grips with but overall it is a thoroughly useful addition to the world of guide books. I look forward to future additions - perhaps including some of Nicholas Warner's superb maps and isometric drawings.

This book is spectacular! I received it as a gift and it renewed my hope in the human spirit and was a reality check for me. Bob Goff's honest, unapologetic, authentic stories will make you laugh out loud and question how your living your life. I've since given it as gifts and have read it at bedtime to both my kids. There is life lessons and reminders that would benefit everyone. I've given it to my atheist and agnostic friends comfortably knowing they as non believers would enjoy it. I would normally stay way out of that territory! They all really enjoyed it and we found some common ground. Not all christians want to change your beliefs. This is simply about what love does.

Useless without lecture notes

If you hope to use this book to get a general overview of measurement systems, then you may be alright, but if you want to be able to perform actual calculations, you should look elsewhere.
This book contains absolutely no worked examples. This leads the reader unable to do the end of chapter problems as the book does not contain detailed mathematical definitions of some of the most important elements contained within in the problems.
For instance, in chapter two, you are required to calculate the environmental coupling constants. Sadly, no where in the book does it actually explain how to do this.
In summary, Principles of Measurements Systems is an incomplete volume, which reads more like a 1st draft than a 3rd edition.
Very disappointing.

I thought this book rather too challenging for the beginner and feel that unless you are pretty knowledgeable about the subject then there are other, simpler books that you should buy.

William Thomas Joines is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University, where he earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering.

William Devereux Palmer is a program manager for electromagnetic, microwaves, and power at the US Army Research Office Electronics Division. He holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Duke University.

Jennifer T. Bernhard is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinoise at Urbana-Champaign, where she also serves as a research professor in the Coordinated Science Library. She holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Duke University.

THE AUTHORITATIVE RESOURCE ON MICROWAVE TRANSMISSION LINE CIRCUITS

Are you a student with a background in basic electrical circuit theory and electromagnetics? If you are, then this book is for you. Authors William Thomas Joines, William Devereux Palmer and Jennifer Truman Bernhard, have done an outstanding job of writing a book that includes planar transmission lines for integrated circuits and matrix and computer-aided methods for analysis and design of circuits components.

Authors Joines, Palmer and Nernhard, begin with an illustration of where the microwave region fits within the electromagnetic spectrum, together with the nomenclature of different operating bands and allocations by usage. Next, the authors present the theory and applications of various types of transmission line; and, the concepts of incident; reflected and transmitted voltage; and, current and power that are formalized with defining equations. In addition, they show how transmission segments can serve as network elements in much the same way as lumped-element capacitors and inductors. The authors also present analytical techniques that are discussed in later chapters. Then, they continue with a description of the synthesis and design techniques for frequency-selective networks. The authors then address a problem often encountered by the microwave engineer--providing an impedance match over a broad range of operating frequencies. Next, they cover combining, dividing, and coupling microwave signals, where the combining, dividing, and coupling may be designed, based on desired power level or on frequency channelization using frequency diplexers. Finally, they conclude by showing you how to apply microwave concepts and transmission line techniques to amplifier, oscillator, and phase shifter circuits, with the aim of obtaining a more complete understanding of these circuits.
